Mount Pleasant is for the outdoorsy type. 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) Mount Pleasant, Michigan is situated right in the middle of the state's lower peninsula. It is home to decent shopping and dining experiences, and is home to the renowned Central Michigan University. Mount Pleasant is mostly a college town and itself isn't a very big city. Most o ...Read More f the dining and shopping is franchised, and the nightlife leaves something to be desired. If you like to gamble, there is the Soaring Eagle Casino in town but other than that Mount Pleasant is really more for the outdoorsy type.

The weather in Mount Pleasant compares the same to the rest of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Winters are very cold and snowy and summers can be very hot and humid. Mount Pleasant is in the middle of the state so while there are some inland lakes nearby, you're pretty far away from the great lakes so swimming may not be an option for you unless you like small and sometimes crowded beaches.

Overall, if you're an outdoorsy person and like hunting, fishing, and the like, or if you're a college student, Mount Pleasant is a great option. If those things don't describe your needs, then it is probably best to look elsewhere in Michigan. Read Less
