Best town in the area 3 rating By Anonymous ( Apr 06, 2022) As someone who lived in North Central Ohio, I can say that Mount Gilead is one of the nicest places in the region. Cute small town vibe. Very safe. Not nearly as trashy as other towns in the area. Only a few minutes from Marion, which has plenty of amenities. It's in Amish countr ...Read More y, so there's lots of tiny Amish stores around. There are a couple nice parks around. The food is surprisingly good for such a small town. The Purple Indian is my personal favorite. A few things to consider are that the city is overwhelmingly conservative and mostly Protestant. If you're a liberal, are LGBTQ+, or atheist, the community might not accept you. That said, that goes for the entire area, so you might want to consider moving south or northeast if you fall under these demographics. Otherwise, I'd recommend the place. Read Less
