The city is located near East L.A. and while there is not a ton of things to do in this city, its close to a good amount of California hot spots, and the location is central enough where transpor ...Read More tation to these areas is quite easy.

If you're looking for pizza there is no question, you need to visit Bollini's pizza while you're there. They have the good handmade tasting huge slices of pizza that you won't soon forget. The hotel accommodations in Monterey Park are slim, I stayed in a Best Western there which was clean but simple. However, as far as California pricing goes, the hotels in this area are very cheap, and can save you a good amount of cash. As far as attractions, there aren't many, but Pasadena is nearby, about 20 minutes away, and they have some decent attractions, including a children's museum which is a must-see if you have kids. The nearest beaches are about 45 minutes away, so if you're looking to make a day trip, it really isn't too far, but with California traffic it could take you much longer. Read Less
