If you have a family, move here 4 rating By AlaskanWanderer ( May 01, 2017) Metlakatla is an awesome town if you have a family. Come here for a fresh start. You want nature, there is nature. You want beaches, there are beaches. You want lots of mountains to climb, you better believe that there are going to be mountains. Awesome little island village. ...Read More Read Less
Love This Town 4 rating By Ashneek ( May 01, 2017) Metlakatla is a great town. It is small and laid back, but big and has amenities. A post office, a store, a convenience market, a hardware store, and a twice daily barge to Ketchikan. Everything you need if you are the type of person who likes a "city" feel, but a "village" vibe. ...Read More Most people are very nice. You can even catch a native Tsimshian dance. Actually a pretty nice place 3 rating By Some Guy ( May 01, 2017) Metlakatla is actually a pretty nice place to live in. Could use a restaurant though. ...Read More Read Less
Rainy, Depressing, Slummy, Boring, Mean Spirited village. 2 rating By Some Guy ( Aug 30, 2016) I have lived in Metlakatla for two years, and there were very few things I liked. I will first start with the Pros. 1. It has an old abandoned runway that is a fun place to hang out. 2. It has a rocky hill that is fun to climb. 3. The beaches are amazing. Now for the cons. 1. You ...Read More can only own land there and vote if you are a Native, meaning that you are Part of the tribe. 2. You are never welcome in that town. You are always an outsider. 3. The kids are jerky, boring, fat, and very secluded. 4. It is too rainy there. Its wet, and damp all year round. Especially in the winter. 5. No Ameneties. Like restaurants and things to eat? Well, forget it if you live there. The closest thing there is to a restaurant is a convenience store. 6. The education is a joke.Thank you for reading this. I hope this will give you an insight on Metlakatla. Read Less
