I have to say that living in Mercedes, Texas is starting to become a bit unpleasant. It used to be one of the best areas in Texas, but these days things are changing and not for the better. The crime rate has skyrocketed, finding decent housing has become a real challenge. Jobs that pay a reasonable living wage are not easy to come by any longer. As for its good points, Mercedes has pretty great weather, the schools have been consistently improving over the past few years, and the people are some of the nicest you will ever find anywhere.
If you enjoy shopping, you will love the Rio Grande Valley Premium Outlets. The whole family will have fun aboard a Black Dragon Cruise - a realistic pirate ship cruise. There are lots of family and holiday events always going on at Estero Llando Grande State Park too. Living here is a combination of good things and not so good things, just like in most places. It's all about making it a good experience and adding positivity to the community to make it better for everyone.
