McLean Offers the Northern Virginia Ideal User Rating 5 rating By Anonymous ( May 13, 2015) I found as a kid and when I brought my family back as an adult, McLean. Virginia is the ideal city to live and experience. Being one of the model cities within Northern Virginia's Fairfax County, McLean's attributes are boundless. Located within the DC beltway, McLean always offe ...Read More rs me easy access to Washington D.C. for school or work. Depending on traffic, traveling from McLean to D.C. takes 30 to 40 minutes depending on the hour, and the route I take. The secret to traveling in northern Virginia is knowing the traffic patterns and schedules of the high-density traffic. You cannot assume that the commute in that area will always go smoothly. I always plan ahead and know the approximate high travel times. Listening to the local radio keeps me informed on the current conditions of the roads even on sunny days. Traveling on the various arteries in and around McLean tends to get congested easily but you can get used to anything when you love where you are living. In 2014, the DC Metro opened five stations on the new Silver Line to the McLean, Vienna, and Tyson's Corner to create new choices for commuting and using the Metro.

McLean being part of the Fairfax County school system has some of the best schools in the nation. Our children have had wonderful experiences full of opportunities for serious and creative learning in their respective schools. The community offers excellent sports programs, art and music along with the capacity for the children to visit the great museums that Washington DC offers. McLean, itself has outdoor activities for the family and is a great area to enjoy all four seasons. Our family enjoys visiting Claude Moore Colonial Farm, Clemyjontri Park, Colvin Run Mill, Turkey Run Park, Great Falls National Park along with Riverbend Park, which is not far from McLean.

If you are a shopper like me, the once proclaimed largest indoor mall in the world, Tyson's is the place to go. Now known as Tyson's Corner Center and Tyson's Galleria, it is just around the corner between McLean and Vienna encircled between Chain Bridge Road, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and the Capital Beltway. Tyson's has shops to fit every taste and budget. We also love the fantastic restaurants that appeal to any cravings of our family of four. When I still can't find what I am looking for, I hop on the metro and usually find it at Ballston Mall just a few stations away. Living in McLean has made it easy for my family and me to get anywhere in the DC metro area.

Jobs in this area are plentiful. The McLean-Tysons area is the one of largest employment centers in the U.S. There are administrative and management companies, science and technology firms, sales, educational services, healthcare, and social assistance businesses. Several larger technological companies have taken up residence in the fast-paced McLean-Tysons area. McLean continues to transform with the new advancements, yet maintains the subtle wholesomeness of a small town along with its southern charm that I still remember when I lived in McLean, Virginia as a kid.
