Nice community, good hospital, doctors & schools. Lots of retail which is handy; however, that brings in more crime. City is becoming overbuilt and noisy. Lots of speeding and loud vehicles on 51 and 74. Sadly, we live in a very noisy, heavily traveled area too close to the i ...Read More

Rating of average 76 degrees in summer is misleading. It is closer to about 85-95+ in the summertime. Very humid. Winters are nice though. Doesn't get too cold and rarely snows. Good schools in Matthews. Nice place to raise a family. Lot of free town events (food truck Fri ...Read More
days, movies and concerts in the park, holiday events). Matthews Alive Festival at Labor Day draws people from all over the state. Housing prices are going through the roof. They're overbuilding Matthews. Wherever there is a parcel of land, housing is going up. Taxes are rising. Used to be a great place to live but now is getting too crowded and seeing an increase in crime and traffic.
