Ferry Over to Little Ferry NJ User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2018) Little Ferry got it's name in the Colonial era since it was the site of a ferry crossing. The borough has more of an urban feel than suburban. Cake Boss Buddy Valastro grew up in Little Ferry. Little Ferry is a suburb of New York City with a diverse population. Little Ferry Public Schools serve students K-8. Students attend high school in Ridgefield Park, a few miles away. NJ Transit provides bus service from Little Ferry to Port Authority in NYC. Little Ferry is 15 miles from New York City. There is plenty of shopping and dining in the general area. The Shops at Riverside in Hackensack has great upscale shopping and dining. The surrounding area, especially areas close to New York City have undergone tremendous urban renewal and appeals to the millennials since it is more affordable than NYC. Read Less
