I moved to the Lansing, MI area for work about 8 months ago from another part of Michigan. Lansing is a pretty typical Mid-Western town that's seen economic trouble recently. It still has it's share of attractions, though, such as the Lugnuts stadium, the beautiful Riverwalk, and ...Read More
the Oldtown area. Anything that Lansing lacks can be found in the surrounding cities. Drive 10 minutes to the East, and you've got the charming college town of East Lansing, home to Michigan State University! In East Lansing, you'll find many more things to do, from shopping at the little boutiques, to big ten sports. Then 10 minutes to the West is Grand Ledge, famous for being the only area in Michigan with exposed rock cliffs and ledges. It's absolutely beautiful to walk through the ledges park along the river in the summertime.
My most frequented leisure spot in the city of Lansing, though, has to be the aforementioned River Trail. As an avid distance runner, I like to park at Moore's landing and jog about 4 miles into the heart of Lansing on the well maintained trails. The scenery ranges from forest to industrial, and I never seem to see the same thing twice on my runs! Great city overall; my rating would be higher if it weren't so economically depressed.
