I had no idea what expect from Lakewood when I visited in Mid 2009 but quickly got a feeling for my surroundings in Lakewood. Lakewood has a small town look and feel but there is some ...Read More decent shopping, surprising nightlife and you can even get a really good Philly cheese steak in the last place you'd expect. Weird, I know!

The Lakewood Center Mall was the first place I visited in the city. The shopping is decent, the mall is well maintained and on the second floor you can get excellent Philly cheese steaks. The Lakewood Center Mall is worth a visit just for the cheese steak if nothing else. Nearby Nightlife includes Sea Hawk which has an 80's feel but a good layout, strong drinks and pool tables. Boomer's is another nightspot that features two bars and plenty of alcohol to go around along with some great dancing.

Families should consider visiting Pacific Theatres Regency Fun Center which has an outstanding arcade. There is not much in the way of nature aside from a few small parks and there are not many other family attractions. Lakewood would make a great place to raise a family with quiet streets, mild entertainment, a good location and decent schools. Visitors should limit their time to a night or two, grab a cheese steak and visit the clubs. Read Less
