Johnson City is by far one of the better cities in Tennessee, and easily outranks its nearby cities, Bristol and Kingsport. Low cost of living, good homes, generally nice layout of the city, and some downtown revitalization in the old brick buildings. There's a pretty good selection of restaurants, as well. The city also has two health food stores. One thing I noticed is that despite having a large college, ESTU, there is hardly any "student" cultural life nearby. There's a pizza place, Kinght's Pizza, and that's about it. You would never really guess there was a college nearby based on the nightlife. The college itself, however, seems quite nice. Overall, it's a good city. Not that exciting, but a nice layout, green grass, well-maintained, and safe.
