larger city but still wasn't likely to be overrun by suburbia anytime soon. It's a safe, friendly and welcoming place. There's a town square and a number of shops and restaurants as well. Civic leaders and residents are generally engaged and interested in volunteering to make the town even better. Cost of living is relatively low. Quality of life is extremely high. Jefferson is also located on the north end of the Raccoon River Valley Trail, a paved bike trail that stretches all the way to the state capital in Des Moines. I question the crime numbers reported here. This is probably the safest community I've ever lived in. There aren't a lot of high paying jobs in town and so many residents commute. That said, it's a great place to work remotely. High speed internet service is good and reasonably priced. Winters can be long and harsh but summers are delightful. All in all, Jefferson is a very special town.
