Life in Huntington, West Virginia User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( Apr 23, 2012) I lived in Huntington, WV for a short time after I graduated college. I found employment at St. Mary's Medical Center as a nurse, and enjoyed living a short drive away from my family in Cincinnati, OH. It is a far cry from the large city of Cleveland, OH, where I spent my undergraduate days, but it could be worse.

One of the best things about Huntington is the people who live there. As unhealthy as they may be, they are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. I had no trouble at all finding a group of friends after I moved to Huntington. The city may not boast all the concerts, sporting events and nightlife I got used to in Cleveland, but I really enjoyed the various festivals that called the city home. The West Virginia Hot Dog Festival happened every July and was always a lot of fun.

Speaking of food, Huntington had some decent restaurants. The burgers at Fat Patty's were to die for. Plus, their happy hour was a great time to hang out with my friends. The shopping wasn't so great, though. Most of my favorite stores didn't have a shop in the area. In the end, I left Huntington to move to Miami, FL for better weather and a more prestigious job. However, I would recommend Huntington as a wholesome place to live for a medical professional looking to move to a small city. Read Less
