Hays, Kansas: Former Wild West Frontier Outpost 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) I ended up moving to Hays in my 20's when I was appointed as a professor at Fort Hays State University. The Hays chamber of commerce organizes a lot of events here. The Chestnut Street District is the center of downtown, where there are many interestign shops. The Hays Parks Department also maintains between 10 and 20 parks, including Frontier Park and the Fort Hays State Historic Site, which includes a golf course and a grazing ground for American Bison (buffalo.) We also have Hays Aquatic Park here. Kids love it.

Frankly, it's not a very exciting place for entertainment, shopping, etc. I personally also get a little tired of the lack of thnic and cultural diversity. On the plus side, the Hays Arts Council operates galleries and exhibitions. A number of local artists manage their own galleries around the city. Read Less
