t night. We love leaving Birmingham after work and heading home where our life is quiet, we can see the stars, hear the crickets, see deer, fox and rabbits in our backyard. Hayden is a great place to raise a family especially if you don't want your children to be exposed to the crime associated with city living. For years I worked in downtown Bham and the crime grew worse every day but in Hayden I rarely hear of any crime taking place. We feel safe in our town. I admit we could use a restaurant or two or maybe even a grocery store but Warrior is only ten miles away from my house and I don't mind the drive. Hayden is a great place to retire, which is why we moved here in our forties. Our grandchildren love coming to the "country" as they put it. They drive up from Shelby County and feel like they are in another world (from Highway 280) and they love the treehouse and rope swings in the backyard. If you are looking for a nice small town give Hayden a try and if you are still working in Bham. It only takes about 35 minutes to drive to downtown.
