...and I couldn't be happier. It is a city, and Hawthorne has normal city problems. But it is four miles from where I work, and I couldn't afford to buy a house in any "better" neighborhood. My neighbors are great, most have been here for 30+ years. Post pandemic, property values ...Read More
are climbing double digits year over year. With rising property values, gentrification isn't far behind. All the folk who complain about the "ghetto", it's not really like that. I lived in Venice for 20 years, THAT is "ghetto" (and I couldn't afford to buy in that neighborhood even if I wanted to). BE the change you want to see. Buy. Improve and live on your what you bought. Petition the city for the services you want. This is just America 101.

This city has a great amount of potential but I guess the community doesn't see that, the majority look to be either Hispanic or Black. Large amount of gang activity, I know a friend who had his uncle murdered due to gang activity. Unfortunately, the city isn't improving and is n ...Read More
egatively falling. Gang violence and low education isn't doing the city so well, its even known as one of the most dangerous areas to live across the nation.

Been living here all my life. Seen a lot of weed smoking and robbery over here. Shootings are above average by a lot and police don't respond to fast (Took 30 minutes when we were robbed) Been pulled a knife/gun on before (I just don't say anything) and its just overall a pretty ...Read More
worrying area. This is great for clubs and house parties but if you want to raise a family I would defiantly look elsewhere.

It's just a really ghetto city. I went there and I ended up seeing a fight near thrifty's gas station on el Segundo blv. Then I heard many gunshots and 2 men wanted to rob me and I walked into the wrong place and sure enough they had weapons. I reported to the police about that a ...Read

Hawthorne California is where the Beach Boys grew up, learned to play their guitars, and changed music. There currently is a memorial to honor the contribution that the boys made to music and California. Overall, it is a blue collar town and a standard middle class suburb. Hawtho ...Read

rne is conveniently located near the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This makes the city an ideal place to stop while traveling through. Hawthorne offers easy access to culture, sports, and entertainment. It has mountains, palm trees, and beaches. Manhattan Beach is at the southwest corner of Hawthorne. It also has a city pool, a skate park, and the Betty Answorth Sports Center.
The Candlewood Suites of Hawthorne is a great place to stay. It has all the comforts of home such a fully equipped kitchen, laundry services, and a convenience store on site.
Unfortunately, the Hawthorne Mall has closed down. The city has not been kept up. When referring to locals they called Hawthorne a ghetto. It is a shame that this working class town has not been maintained. The weather is really pleasant in Hawthorne, it is close to the airport, and as far as a town it has great potential. Unfortunately, this potential has not been maintained or realized.
