Lived in Gurnee for over 5 years. (Unincorporated with family living in the incorporated part of Gurnee) Both areas are just bland. You have a few local favorite mom & pop restaurants (Shanty/Primo/The Point/etc) besides that its very touristy. Traffic during summer season due to ...Read More
Six Flags and Mall get bad. Neighboring town of Waukegan and Park City are riddled with crime and filth. I would suggest looking further west like Lindenhurst or completely out of state. Taxes are high and schools continue to dwindle. Only thing we did enjoy were the nearby forest and walking trails. Plenty of outdoor areas but that will only last so long.

diverse options to suit anyone’s needs.
Employment is steady, and with several corporate offices in the region, gainful employment is certainly not hard to find. The cost of living can seem high at times but is usually counteracted by higher paying jobs, being that the city is so close to Chicago and the “Metra” rail that takes you into downtown Chicago at a reasonable price.
I couldn’t have picked a better suburb to live in than Gurnee. The weather is that of Chicago, with really warm summers and sometimes frigid winters with a lot of snow. But you come to expect that when you’re living anywhere in the Midwest.
