Shortly after I got married my husband and I bought our first started home in Granite City, Illinois. I loved living near the city while having my home situated in a lovely, country-like setting. Our fantastic neighbors were not too close but not too far away. Everyone had plenty of space and privacy. Living in Granite City I had the best of both worlds!

My husband and I both found jobs close to home easily, given that the city offers such a diverse blend of businesses. The bus service provided the extra transportation we needed to and from convenient locations. On our days off we enjoyed spending time strolling around or sometimes camping at beautiful Horseshoe Lake. One of the best areas in Granite City to visit was the Native American ruins at Cahokia Mounds; beautiful and brimming with history.

The weather could get pretty hot in the summertime, but overall it was not too bad year round. It was comfortable and always felt like home. I have many fond memories of my years in Granite City!
