Our property taxes are high (Dallas County and GP schools) and our homeowners insurance isn't exactly low but we are here to stay.
The City's Mayor and supporting management are amazing. One of my neighbor's trees fell and landed halfway in the road. A street crew arrived within 15 minutes and took care of business. Economic development has been amazing over the past few years. They are focusing on family and friends with Epic...it's working.
Despite the occasional ambulance or fire truck, this city is not loud. Read Less

There are not really any major attractions in Grand Prairie. The downtown city area of Grand Prairie is well designed and has a modern feel. I was impressed by the overall design and cleanliness. I enjoyed a nice afternoon visiting a local restaurant; the majority of the food in Grand Prairie seems to have a Spanish influence. Afterwards I enjoyed walking up and down the main boulevard area and browsing through the many smaller shops and some larger ones as well!

Shopping is decent if you enjoy smaller local establishments but you won't find any huge malls! The community seems nice enough but the overall area around Grand Prairie feels to spaced apart and baron. The nightlife is practically non-existent. I would recommend stopping downtown for a bite to eat or maybe to browse the antique shops! Read Less

Grand Prairie sits right in between Dallas and Fort Worth. It is actually a neighborhood in itself of both of these larger cities. It is important to understand also that the climate in this city is hot and humid. There is also a chance of strong storms throughout the summer which could potentially be damaging. With this in mind, home insurance costs may be more expensive.

The cost of housing is much lower than the national average. It is also lower than the cost of housing in the surrounding cities of Grand Prairie. The average price of a house in this town is around $130,000. The average price of a rental in this town is around $1,100. These prices are similar to other cities that are around the same size, but overall, are inexpensive compared to the rest of the country.

The cost of utilities is right around the same as it is in the rest of the country in Grand Prairie. This may be primarily due to the fact that air conditioner will run much more in hot and humid summers. It is slightly more than it is found in the rest of Texas as well. Transportation costs are much more expensive in this area, however.

Transportation costs are much higher as it only applies to gas prices. There are no public transportation offerings available. The city declined a partnership with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit System. As mentioned, Grand Prairie is a short commute to both Fort Worth and Dallas. Both of these cities are full of entertainment options. There are also entertainment options in Grand Prairie itself. These include Lone Star Park and GPX Skate Park, each with their own sporting competitions to see. There is also the Verizon Theatre where many individuals are able to see concerts or other large-scale events.

Grand Prairie is a city situated between two of the largest cities in Texas. Despite this, the city has its own ability to be accommodating to families looking to move here. It offers great housing prices and great neighborhoods to allow you and your family to be safe. There is plenty to keep you busy upon moving here as well.
