Beware of this "community" 0.5 rating By amartin ( Jun 11, 2017) We decided to purchase a lake home in Granbury several years ago. The lake is nice and we thought the small town environment would be a nice getaway from Dallas on the weekends. The house needed a bit of work, so we hired handymen, painters, plumbers, electricians, landscapers an ...Read More d road contractors (clearing, base work and asphalt). The sheriff's deputies DID NOTHING, despite third party witnesses. One theft was a felony amount. Two of the "contractors" also had fraudulent pictures and fraudulent representations on their websites. Another contractor threatened to file liens on the very day they emailed an invoice if we didn't pay "immediately" their gross overcharge for WORK THEY DID NOT EVER COMPLETE. Even the local H Depot messed up two orders....To summarize, we had to call the Hood County Sheriff's office TWICE due to theft (a first for us). We hired an attorney TWICE to deal with major overcharges and extreme-poor workmanship (a first for us - and I'm in the real estate business -- rentals, flips, etc.). We even received reports from workers that our "neighbors" were snooping around our property and driving on our freshly poured asphalt. (I have since personally met each resident on our street. They all pointed fingers to two snoopy neighbors. Crazy. The others are very nice. We have placed reviews on the BBB and other sites. Things were SO BAD, I even seriously thought about approaching the city council and the chamber of commerce to ask why their "community" is so crooked! I mean, who thinks up a crazy idea like that? Answer? That's how bad it has been. Think of a surreal nightmare and the Twilight Zone mixed together.We have met a FEW nice people - like at the Tractor Supply store and at several restaurants. This has been a nightmare experience. We intend to sell the house and look for a more honest community. Read Less
