A great place to live but you wouldn't care to visit. 2.5 rating By Acuramaningcsc ( Aug 11, 2013) I've lived in Goose Creek most of my life and think it's a settled, quiet, safe, place to live. Not much exciting here but if you are wanting to escape cold winters or over- population it might be worth your consideration. Keep in mind though slower living has some negatives. Sho ...Read More pping leaves a lot to be desired, but there are other towns about 100 miles away with more choices. Much like it was in the 1960's, Goose Creek hasn't changed much except number of traffic lights and number of residences. Don't expect a willingness for change no matter your promise for improvement. It is a suburb of Charleston and mediocre beaches. Politically speaking the area may be a little more middle of the road for S Carolina but still leans way conservative. Summer days are warm as to be expected, however, days can be hazier and more muggy than you may be prepared for. Winters are pleasantly mild. The people here are very proud of their heritage. You will be reminded of the "friendliness" they like to pat themselves on the back for endlessly, which may or not be deserved. I've experienced friendlier. Cost of living is a little high in relation to wages. With the promise of companies moving to the area binging jobs, being able to pay low wages, growth will continue. I believe unemployment is still a little worse than national avg. but remains one of the better rates in the state. Overall it's a good place to live and probably one of the better small cities in the South. Relatively speaking. Read Less
