Great place to live and raise a family! User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 23, 2019) Lots of parks and green space. Tons of family friendly activities. Close to St Louis but at the same time, far enough away from the city. Low crime rates, no traffic, an excellent community college, great neighbors! Godfrey, IL: Needs Some Work Before Recommending User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Godfrey, IL is a suburb of St. Louis, and unfortunately for those of us living in Godfrey, we have inherited St. Louis's crime rate and a few other undesirable traits from the bigger city as well. Our educational system has gotten pretty low marks at state and federal level due t ...Read More o excessive dropout rates, poor showing on testing, and low graduation rates. Homes in this area are old and unkempt. The job market is decent only because of the close proximity to the larger city, and we do enjoy decent weather for the most part.

On the plus side and for entertainment, we have the famous St. Louis Zoo, the interactive St. Louis Science Center for kids of all ages to enjoy and learn, and the awesome Gateway Arch, the monument St. Louis is well-known for. Here you can go up into the arch all the way to the top and enjoy a great view. I don't recommend it if you are claustrophobic or afraid of heights though! Read Less
