There isn't a day that passes that I don't regret moving from Gibson's. Living in Vancouver, we'd frequently spend our weekends on the Sunshine Coast, and fell in love with the location. In 2018, we moved to Gibsons, living in a house by the sea on Marine Drive. It truly was t ...Read More
he high water mark of my life, and nothing afterwards has come close to matching it. There is an abundance of shopping in Gibson's, and for variety, there's always Sechelt, so you're never starved for choices. Restaurants are everywhere, and more than a few are quite good. The area still has a small town feel to it despite its population, and people were universally kindly. The weather was great, with lots of sun, and winters that were very thankfully short. The sea and nature are always a large part of your life, and we never tired of visiting all the beaches, or going for walks through the forests. However, the only bad side to everything being so nice is that everyone now wants to live there too, so big city problems are slowly appearing on the Sunshine Coast. Hyper inflated real estate, and crime are now becoming serious issues there. Sadly, we moved to Bowen, as we were both still tethered to the city though employment, and thought that Bowen would be a good substitute. It wasn't. It was awful, and by the time we realized our mistake it was too late to retrace a path back to Gibson's, as the minimum entry fee to the RE market was now a million dollars. Gibson's is a magnificent location.
