I've lived here for six months and it is only getting worse. Between gunshots at night and teenagers shooting at people with BB guns, a lack of respect or confidentiality by city police, and the four weeks leading up to the 4th of July weekend and even now, early Monday morning o ...Read More
f July 5th, and people are still shooting off fireworks, and police are doing nothing about it. Very few people get a Monday off after a holiday, and yet we must suffer while others continue their selfish activities. I sorely regret moving to this town. There is no sense of community, neighbors do not take care of their property, and people do not care about others. I miss my old town and my neighbors who said Hi! as we walked past, and who did not shoot off fireworks until the days leading up to the 4th, and not past 10pm. I miss the respectfulness that I had taken for granted. Galesburg is not a safe or enjoyable place to live.

I haven't lived in Galesburg for very long yet, but I can already tell that I'm going to like it enough to stay here for years to come. The city is small, but so cozy and charming. The feeling of a warm blanket wrapped around my shoulders makes up for any lack of shopping or attr ...Read More
actions. Living in Galesburg is like sitting on a porch out in the country, sipping a cup of hot tea, watching the sky change as the sun rises over the horizon line. That's how charming and cozy it is here.
If you need something to do besides walking the streets and observing others like I tend to spend my days doing, the best areas in Galesburg to have some fun are Lake Storey Park for those who like beautiful nature and a bit of fishing, the Railroad Museum or one of the many historic homes for those who like history, or the Children's Museum for those with little ones.
