Eastside Fort Worth, TX; The Neglected Neighborhood User Rating 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 06, 2014) Every major city has good and bad neighborhoods. Even in the bad ones, there is always spots that are good. In the case of Eastside Fort Worth, there is more bad than good. I can say this because I lived in Eastside Fort Worth for many years. In Fort Worth, whenever anyone discusses Eastside, everyone knows what that means. It means, Stop Six and surrounding area. Essentially, it is gang territory. Not just one gang or two but several of all types. Most are Hispanic but not all but for the most part, Eastside has been forgotten by most and the City of Fort Worth.

It is actually sad, as there is a lot of history in that area. Currently, in part of the area are large warehouses that contain parts of the National Archives, under the General Services Administration. Warehouses that were built for World War 2. Even they appear run down and have seen better conditions. Many of the homes are older homes, some built prior to the 50's and before. Property values tend to be on the lower side of those in the rest of Fort Worth. Mostly due to the near by location of light industrial facilities and power plant. Also partially due to the high crime rate and is a known area for the purchase of drugs.

That is not the say the entire Eastside is bad. There are some wonderful little shops that offer thrift items. Some of the local restaurants offer some of the best Mexican food to be found. Eastside is also home to Texas Wesleyan University. However, the normal business one would expect next to the university are almost none existent.

Overall, if someone was interested in relocating to Eastside Fort Worth, I would highly discourage it. High crime, low property values and insufficient city investment in this neighborhood have all stifled the growth. That is not the say that there might be a diamond in the rough to be had. However, the potential for such a diamond would be very low. Read Less
