Getting worse; moved out. User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 24, 2020) Once this was a good city, and if you look at it from the central wards' point of view then yea, it's a pretty great place to live. However every outskirt of the city is in shambles with empty business centers, run down homes and unkempt roads. Whether you're talking about the Ha ...Read More zelwood, calverton park and Ferguson borders, you can instantly start to ask yourself, "Am I in the same city?" The only exception to this being the border of florissant and Blackjack.

I have a lot of family living here and a lot of them tell me they want to get out badly but can't due to the rest of their family living there and the rapidly dwindling housing prices making it hard to sell a property worth 3 times the price even 15 miles south-west.

As for the school system, it's abysmal; I was born and raised in it. The teachers, for the most part, have never cared. They saw students struggling but they let it happen I watched it time and time again. The board of education is a joke. They care more about their outlook than the well-being of the children being taught there.

The infrastructure is fine, I suppose. The roads are lacking sufficient surfacing on both Lindbergh(HW 67, so this may be a MODOT issue) and New Florissant. Otherwise the roads are kept up decently well.

Business is still doing well in most areas in Florissant, except for on the outskirts of Florissant, like I mentioned earlier. Dining has always been a pro, there is a huge diversity of restaurants both chain, and family owned shops. I would recommend exploring them.

Overall Florissant is in no way a bad city, however, "getting worse" could most likely apply. Read Less
Hidden Gem, misunderstood User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 05, 2019) We are often mistaken for the reputation of north city, when in fact florissant is a great place to live. We have beautiful parks and a good sense of community. ...Read More Read Less
The Great City of Florissant, MO User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 24, 2012) I have lived in Florissant, Missouri for five years and counting now. Coming from a really small town, I had no idea of how I would suggest to this city of 50,000 people. Even though many people would not consider this a huge city, I felt like it was huge compared to where I came ...Read More from. The good thing is that I had such high expectations for it. It's pretty apparent that where I came from had absolutely nothing to do, so I figured I would at least not be bored in Florissant. I would turn out to be correct!

Right off the bat, I actually felt like I fit in really well. There are different types of people into different types of things; there is also a wide variety of culture in Florissant. Basically, no matter what you are into, you are sure to run into a group of people that you can become friends with. That was one thing I was most fearful about - making friends. I had no problem with that due to the wide range of interest of the citizens in Florissant.

Even though Florissant is considered a fairly large city, you always get to experience the "outdoors" in parts of the city. If you are into things such as hunting or fishing, then you can still do all of that in this city. Also, there are a few different malls that you can visit there as well if you are ever bored. You never really end up running out of things to do in this city. Coming from a smaller town, I found this to be a great thing because I always used to be bored before from having nothing to do. In Florissant, you can be occupied doing something all day!

Overall, I would definitely recommend living in the city of Florissant. Being in Missouri, you will have to experience the colder months of Winter, but the Fall and Spring are absolutely beautiful! I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Read Less
