Its a smaller town but is close to the more urban parts of Madison. Fitchburg has a great police department, though it is worth noting that in recent months Fitchburg has seen a slight rise in crime. One ...Read More of the main downsides to Fitchburg is that it does not have its own public school system so for those looking to raise a family in Fitchburg, note that your children will be attending school outside of the city. This may be problematic due to commuting times.

Fitchburg has decent shopping and entertainment. Nightlife is average, but it doesn't tend to be a problem since Madison is so close, which is a city with a very vibrant nightlife. The weather in Fitchburg is the same as that for most of the Midwest which means cold and snowy winters with hot and humid summers. However, the autumn season is exceptional in Fitchburg with the trees that line the streets producing vibrant colors and giving the city a warm and welcoming feel.
