Open-minded gem of Detroit. 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Ferndale, Michigan is one of Detroit's north/northwest suburbs. It is a city built more for the younger crowd, and is very culturally accepting. It is popular with the LGBT community for having a very accepting and open-minded vibe throughout town with all of the residents. Fernd ...Read More ale is conveniently located near Detroit to have the conveniences of both a smaller community while being close enough to the city for even more cultural options. Crime has been in steady decline over recent years, however, police do warn that it is important to stay vigilant when out at night. Especially in less populated and non-residential areas.

The city's dining and shopping options are excellent, with many unique and many ethnic and fusion restaurants that are becoming more and more popular with people from all around the Detroit area .The city is close to more populous areas of Detroit that have many dining and shopping options that suit everyone.

Overall, Ferndale is an amazing and open community perfect for younger adults. If you're looking to settle down or start a family, you might be better off looking elsewhere in the Detroit area, though Ferndale is not a terrible option. Read Less
