cal center, and major industries, including the Weyerhaeuser corporate headquarters. At the same time, there is a small town feel; I have found the residents to be very friendly and welcoming. Outdoor enthusiasts will find a plethora of opportunities for recreation in every season. Dash Point State Park, a waterfront park on Puget Sound, offers picnic and camping areas, beachcombing, boating, and hiking. Mount Rainier, less than an hour away by car, offers downhill and cross-country skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.
Hardcore urbanites will likely be less than thrilled with the nightlife available in Federal Way. However, there are several attractive options for entertainment. The White River Amphitheater, 15 miles east of Federal Way, hosts national musical acts most weekends throughout the summer, and of course Seattle, which offers a something for everyone, is only a short drive or bus ride away.
