What makes Elmhurst such an attractive place to live is more of its access to everywhere you want to be - even if it isn't in Elmhurst. There is an Amtrak stop in the heart of the city that makes going to Chicago cheap and easy.

Of course, relocating to Elmhurst will be an above average financial adventure. Estimate you will have to have an annual income around $100k to live there without straining your budget. There are the typical Midwestern four seasons, so there are times of huge snowfalls and hot summer weather. Most of the homes where I lived had garages, which means extra shoveling in the winter. In my area there was a ban on parking your car in the street after 9 p.m. Overall, it is one of those places that is great for raising a family and the city design is versatile enough to access major expressways and public transportation with ease.
