Worst four years of my life User Rating 2 rating By Anonymous ( Nov 27, 2018) I lived in Elizabethtown (E-Town as the locals call it) from 2014 to 2018, and it was truly terrible. As another reviewer stated, the town isn't very exciting. UNLESS you live near the center of town, that's where all of the action is. I lived on N Market St, two doors down from L ...Read More ucky Duck and a college student house. On-street parking was a struggle, always fighting for a spot near your house. I even received a ticket once, though I was parked completely legally (the curb was painted incorrectly and yet I still had to pay because "no one is going to paint the curb in the winter" as the town hall told me - SERIOUSLY). Noise from the street was insane, a man literally stopped in front of my window one time and freestyle rapped to himself as he waited for his uber, there was a gathering of at least 150 college students outside of my window one time - fireworks were shot off and the cops were called. Pretty much everyone in this town works at the Dove factory, and I'm 90% sure they perform lobatomys in that place because every person I've met who worked there seemed dead on the inside. Preferred Realty Management owns a majority of the rental properties in the town, and they were horrible to deal with - they never honored maintenance requests on time (leaking shower left unrepaired for two months), and my building should have been condemned.Overall its a relatively safe town to live in, but if you check the news headlines you'd think otherwise. To sum up E-Town in three words: rednecks, k-mart, and boring. Read Less
LIved there. Glasgow DE is much better (for us) Not PET_FRIENDLY! User Rating 2.5 rating By donna /gary hornock ( Jul 19, 2016) If you are Protestant, and are looking for a place not for dog owners, this is the place. It is largely white and Protestant, poorly run government, and pet owners don't matter. There are no parks which allow dogs. Fairly quiet, and fairly low crime. Fairly low cost of living, bu ...Read More t property taxes are very high. Read Less
probably the nicest place west of Lancaster, Reading and Allentown User Rating 3 rating By donna /gary hornock ( Jan 30, 2014) Southeastern Pennsylvania's westernmost major town isn't exciting at all; but it offers frequent Amtrak service. The cable service is good (six PHILADELPHIA channels and one Baltimore channel!) Other than NBC 8, all of the other local channels are absolutely PATHETIC (no redeemin ...Read More g value whatsoever!) It is NOT PET FRIENDLY! Lots of parks; but not a single one allows MAN"S BEST FRIEND! The property taxes were absolutely ridiculous (other than repairing roads and snow plowing) pet-owning couples get nothing whatsoever for their tax dollars! It is not an ethnically diverse community. Most people are white (over 95%;) and most are from a Protestant background (only 15% Catholic;) and church attendance is very average. There are a few good restaurants (Panda Buffet, Hosses and Pizzatown, and Simplee Seafood in neighboring Mt. Joy.) If you are white, Protestant, not a dog-lover, and do not crave exitement Elizabethtown might be a perfect match for you. Read Less
