I always enjoyed the quiet suburban town of Eatontown, NJ. It's small hometown feel is homey and cozy. There is not a lot of nightlife or fine dining there but the town is close to Asbury Park and other New Jersey shore communities. Eatontown was named for Thomas Eaton, a settler ...Read More
who built a mill there around 1670. The US Army Ft. Monmouth is a former Army installation, in use from 1917 to 2011.
Today the main focal point of Eatontown is the Monmouth Mall. If all goes as planned, the new name of the mall will be named The Heights at Monmouth. It will be redeveloped to have retail, entertainment, medical offices and a 700 unit apartment complex. Part of the existing mall will be demolished. The development will be very upscale, with wine bars and restaurants catering to millennials.
Eatontown is off Exit 105 on the Garden State Parkway. It is around 50 miles from New York City and around 80 miles from Philadelphia.
