There is a hospital in Tawas. There is a little farmers market and a candy store and a tiny bookstore. You can stroll the downtown in ten minutes, buy an ice cream cone, get a beer, and then what? Summer is short, winter is long. Jobs are few. Lovely area a few weeks a year. The military base in Oscoda closed years ago and the region never recovered from that. Read Less
