Small town with amazing schools User Rating 4.5 rating By Lifeoftheparty ( Nov 25, 2014) I used to live in the Dunlap area for years. I was there from grade school until I moved after graduating at Dunlap high school. For starters, CAT headquarters is located very close to the Dunlap and Chillicothe area. They create a lot of jobs and are a huge asset to the Peori ...Read More a area and its surrounding areas. Dunlap school district has been doing extremely well in the last 7-10 years and continues to grow. There is only so vast amount of land over there but majority of the surrounding land is still occupied by some farmers and the property they own. Dunlap is being shown as a bigger place than it really is though. I say that because majority of the people who live in the north end of Peoria are in the Dunlap school district so the population that it is showing is not 100% correct. Dunlap itself is a small town that has not much other than a close community. There are about 2 maybe 3 restaurants in the town but good local food. There is not a night life there unless you are watching the sports games at the high school. The good thing is though, there is a lot of good shops, restaurants, and some spots for night life maybe 5-10 minutes from the Dunlap area (all considered North Peoria). One word of advice for people who are thinking of moving to Dunlap, there is a lot of politics at this place that areavibes will not be able to review. Overall, if you are a young family and would like to have your family live in a safe community with great schools this is the place. Dunlap is recognized as one of the best school districts in the state that is not located in Chicago. Read Less
