Nothing to See Here User Rating 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 28, 2019) I have lived here for 9 long years. Initially we moved here to save money. We are looking forward to moving in a couple years. It's very hard to think of any positives about this town.
The negatives: Shootings. The neighborhoods are very checkered, you'll have a nicely kept house
...Read More , then next door will be a dump. Druggies and mentally ill roaming the streets. Break ins. People allowing dogs to roam streets. So many homeless pets, it's a disgrace. Pot holes. People roaring down residential streets way past speed limits. 7 neighbor pets were killed in the road just on our block (3 dogs, 4 cats). You may have gotten the picture by now that this town is full of a lot of people who just don't care about anything. Extremely hot summers. Frosty winters. Dust, dust, dust. Did I say dust? If you have asthma or allergies you will constantly suffer here. If you don't, you will probably develop them. No restaurant selection unless you like greasy, unhealthy stuff. No shopping, other than Dollar General and an overpriced, small grocery store. When people attempt to create a interesting small business it never lasts. There's nothing pretty or cute about the downtown, or any part of town really. There are no attractions and absolutely nothing to do in this town. Most people must commute for work. For shopping and entertainment you have to go out of town and Los Banos is about 20 minutes away, Merced is about 40 minutes away, and Fresno is about an hour. Overall, this place should just be avoided. Read Less
