On the bright side, Dolton is just a couple of minutes from Lake Michigan. In the summer, there is a lot you can do for fun in the area. The lake is always a great place to visit and there are a number of parks immediately in Dolton as well.
If you like to go shopping, Dolton has a lot of local stores that should take care of most of your needs. There is a public bus system you can utilize, but it doesn't cover all of the shopping areas. Having your own car will make getting around a lot easier.
