A Modern Take on the 'Burbs: Southeastern Denver User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 19, 2012) I'm a Colorado native and lived in Southeastern Denver for five years. It's mainly a family-friendly residential area, with lots of parks, houses with big yards, and grocery stores. It's tucked between the Denver Tech Center to the South and the city of Aurora to the East. The in ...Read More terstate, I-25, runs through the area, giving residents easy access to the bustling downtown restaurants, sports arenas, and theaters. But there is a lot to explore in Southeastern Denver, too.

Observatory Park, Bible Park and Cherry Creek State Park offer lots of space for playing sports and playground structures for kids. Many runners, joggers and walkers can be found exercising, with both 2-and 4-legged friends. Golfers can choose from Wellshire or Kennedy Golf Courses. A nicely equipped 24 Hour Fitness is conveniently located near Hampden and Monaco. Fans of blockbuster and indie films have a vairety of movie theaters to choose from. For spiritual reflection, many different denominations of churches are spread out among the neighborhood.

Shopping and dining can be found in larger, big-name stores like Wal-Mart and an upcoming Super Target, and smaller, locally owned stores. You can find a bit of East Coast flavor at the New York Deli News and The Bagel Deli. The Fresh Fish Company serves a delicious brunch on Sundays and special holidays. For an authentic Japanese meal, try Kokoro or Kiki's. If you have a sweet tooth, the cookies, pastries and cakes served at Child's Pastry will be sure to satisfy.

The area has schools in both Denver Public Schools, which have mixed ratings, and Cherry Creek School District, which generally have good ratings. If your local school isn't what you're looking for, you can choice into another public school or look into some of the private schools. Many residents are original owners from when the area was built up in the 1960's, but more younger families with kids are moving in. It's a great neighborhood with a suburban feel without being too stuffy. Read Less
