Detour to Deland 4 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Deland, a city of 30,000 located in the middle of central Florida, is not the kind of place that's on anyone's radar. One of life's unexpected detours led me to this charming, quiet city and I couldn't be happier.

Living in Deland, I am centrally located to just about everythin ...Read More g. The quaint seaside town of New Smyrna, sitting on one of Florida's best stretches of coastline, is a mere 25 miles to the east. The world famous attractions and employment opportunities of Orlando are less than an hour away. And nearby Blue Springs State Park provides all sorts of adventures like swimming, hiking, and manatee watching.

The Downtown Historic District is easily one of the best places in Deland. The quaint sidewalks of Woodland Boulevard are lined with locally owned shops and restaurants. After grabbing a beer at Persimmon Hollow Brewing it's a quick walk to Melching Field for a Stetson University baseball game or over to Neighbors Artisan Taqueria for some mouth-watering Mexican. The possibilities in Deland are endless. Read Less
