Dearborn is Fantastic User Rating 5 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2021) So firstly... I am writing this from the perspective of a long term resident, born and raised, and yes I am white AND Christian. Everything these other people said was completely false. I went to Dearborn Public Schools from Pre-K to Graduation and NOO you do not learn Arabic. NO ...Read More OO Proms are not separate at any high schools. And I went to my own at Dearborn High School and the one at Fordson. Dearborn has MANY Catholic and Protestant churches in the area. They are welcomed and respected. Christians do have festivals such as the October Fest downtown ran by one of the churches where they serve beer and whatnot, which is definitely not a "Muslim" thing to do and there are no issues. So please be advised that whoever wrote those reviews were obviously just bigots and it does not reflect Dearborn.

Dearborn is an amazing safe community. I have decorations in my yard, porch, etc, and have no issues. My neighbors are friendly, there are parks everywhere, and people are constantly out walking. Dearborn has some of the best city services in the state. Snow removal is prompt, our streets are swept and clean, and trash is consistent. Response time for police and fire is some of the best of the nation. There are many articles written about this if you'd like to fact check me. As a teacher of 4 districts, Dearborn has some of the best schools I have ever been in. Dearborn is highly funded and well respected and organized. The schools are safe, inclusive, and consistent. There is a sense of pride for those who live here or grew up here. My family has been here since the 1800's and will continue to stay here for as long as possible. Lastly, the food is unmatched. There are amazing shwarma and falafel places as mentioned, with also amazing burgers, chicken, and more. Recently with the opening of the Wagner place in Downtown, we now have phenomenal brunch, sushi, and so many little cafes. There's great poutine, halal Mexican, and classy steak houses. Anyone failing to see this is simply blinded by hate. Dearborn is a great city. Read Less
My hometown with a special place in my heart User Rating 4 rating By LynnL1982 ( Apr 17, 2014) Yes, there are A LOT of Arabs (who by the way originate from the same place as "white" Europeans--THE CAUCUS, hence the word CAUCASIAN--present day Iran) living in Dearborn...MANY of which are CHRISTIAN. "Arab" simply means people who speak Arabic. No religious affiliation is att ...Read More ached to that word.

But beyond that, Christians, Muslims, AND Jews are all people of The book--we pray to The One God Almighty. Watching these groups continually fight, when they are actually religious brothers, is saddening. The major threat to America, and Christians especially, are those who continue to uphold and perpetuate these unfounded xenophobic beliefs and values. Media has a tendency to portray one view of Islam--that of a VERY SMALL MINORITY of extremists. EVERY religion, political party, etc. has fundamentalists who have lost the plot. Doesn't make it right to blanket an ENTIRE population of people under that single exaggerated stereotype. I'm a Christian, fiscal republican, and I am happy that the Arab people came to Dearborn. M

Why am I happy? Dearborn was well on it's way to economic decline, but the influx of Arab immigrants since the 1980s has revitalized the economy. My grandparents were immigrants from Italy and Eastern Europe, and I'm happy to say they've lived in the same house in Dearborn for 60+ years--something they attribute to the economic growth Arabs brought to the city. The Lebanese food in Dearborn is great, and there are so many cool little spots owned by the same families for generations. Thank God, I have been lucky enough to travel around the world, and have to say that some of the Middle Eastern food in Dearborn rivals that of which I've had abroad in Beirut, Dubai, Paris, Sydney, and more.

I apologize for the ranting, but I find it truly disheartening to see a wonderful culture of people stereotyped so horribly. My neighbors growing up were Iraqi Christian. My fiancé is Lebanese American. My friends hail from parts all over the globe--Iranian Jews, Kuwaiti Muslims, Israelis, Russians, and so forth. I want to provide a review of this city--and it's people, in general--that is opposite of the view presented before me. Hatred, intolerance, and violence cannot be solved with more hatred, intolerance, and violence. There is no "Arab movement" against America, but the longer we hold racist opinions against other cultures, the more likely an uprising will happen. History has taught us that, if anything Read Less
Small Town in the Big City User Rating 4.5 rating By RichardAL ( May 17, 2012) Dearborn is a great town with friendly people. Dearborn is very close to Detroit, it actually borders it on a large side but it is very safe in comparison. There is a lot to see and a lot of history in the city. It is pretty segregated, the whites live in west dearborn and the ar ...Read More abs live in east dearborn, keep that in mind if you plan on moving into the neighborhood, I would also recommend private schools because the schools are not all that great it is school of choice however and there are 3 high schools to choose from Dearborn High being the best Fordson High school although beautiful not the best academically. Dearborn, MI - An Arab Fiesta User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 24, 2010) On my visit to Detroit, one of my Arab colleagues invited me to visit, Dearborn. It is a city known for Ford Motor Company which has its headquarters, here. Besides, it is also popular for the largest Arab community in North America. It may not be an overstatement to suggest that ...Read More Dearborn is a small brother of Detroit but it is much more refined and well organized. This contrast between the two cities was clearly visible when my friend took me for a drive around town. In fact, River Rouge is so neatly constructed that one would take it as a large blue line, when flying overhead.

I was also told that authorities in Dearborn have done an excellent job at keeping crime rates low (compared to other cities in Michigan). It is precisely for this reason that when the government decided to develop Springwell, a clean but less developed city between Dearborn and Detroit, residents of Springwell protested against its inclusion in Detroit. They actually preferred Dearborn. I would definitely move to Dearborn to get the benefits of a small city, yet close to a huge city. Read Less
