Not the place to be. High crime, robbery, road rage a daily occurrence here. Very unfriendly drivers in this town. Very few who follow traffic laws. People just not very nice here. We are been to Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, Dallas, New York, Nashville, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, ...Read More
etc. And this city is by far the worst we been to. Des Moines is far better and much more friendly city. We live in Fort Madison for years and find that a much better place to live also. But the State taxes are also very high. Up to 9 percent, maybe that's what makes everybody unset??

We watched the sun set during a dinner cruise along this Mississippi River. We spent several hours at the Rhythm City Casino. Luckily, I didn't lose all of our savings at the Blackjack table. We actually left the casino with a few dollars more than we started with. It wasn't enough to write home about, but a win is always better than a loss! For dinner, I'd recommend Antonella's Trattoria Ristorante & Pizzaria's Chicago-style stuffed pizza. They also had a fantastic selection of Italian wines.
We had fun in Davenport. There were so many things to do and see in the area that it was a little difficult deciding what to do (except for the casino!). We heard good things about the Vander Veer Botanical Garden and Putnam Museum. If we go back to Davenport, those are definitely on our to do list!
