Last night I was lying in bed at 11pm on a Saturday night, and I could not hear anything. It was so quiet. No traffic noise, people talking, loud music, etc. I live 5 minutes outside of downtown. But I found a spot that is serene, safe, and clean. I walk my dog late at night at m ...Read More

I have lived in the Cedar Crest neighborhood of Dallas for the past two years. Although I have only been here for a short period of time, I have noticed a few things about the area. There are many more children and teenagers than there are adults, but there are abundantly more pe ...Read More
ople over all compared to some of the other neighborhoods in Dallas. Many of the people who live in my neighborhood are African American. While I am fine with this, there are times when some of my neighbors seem like they want to do something that is not wise. I haven't had any trouble at my home, but I do know a few people who have had random things happen such as a bike left outside stolen or a knock on the door late at night. Otherwise, there have been no major issues.
One of the things that I don't like about living in this area is that I have to drive about half an hour just to get to any decent shopping centers or restaurants. I enjoy living in the country, but it's a little ridiculous not to have at least a large grocery store in the area. On the other hand, the sunrises and sunsets are absolutely beautiful when I sit on my front porch. It appears as though I can see forever across the sky.
I enjoy watching plays in theatres, so when I heard about the Texas Theatre, I was ecstatic. One of the first plays I watched there was The Wizard of Oz. the acoustics are wonderful, but the seating could be updated a little as the seats are rather small. The theatre is located in the middle of town, making it an ideal destination before or after a meal. Lockhart Smokehouse is a restaurant where I like to eat in the evening. It has the best BBQ sandwich I have ever had, and the hush puppies are made from scratch each day. There are a few different kinds of slaw including the traditional that is made with vinegar and a red slaw that is more for baked beans. While this neighborhood could use some improvements, it is an overall enjoyable place to live.
