Definately the most desirable neighborhood. 1.5 rating By hopefulTXn ( Mar 17, 2016) Contrary to what I read in another review, there is no water in the South Side neighborhood, unless you buy a house with a pool. The bay is 4.5 miles away and you'll drive 10 miles to get to the beaches on the Gulf. There is a very nice hospital here, lots of medical offices, a S ...Read More tarbucks, Marble Slab Creamery, a Gold's Gym and a Kohl's. Not too far from here is the Bowlero, a cool bowling alley with laser tag and other fun things. There are a lot of good restaurants on the South Side. There is a big H.E.B. Plus, probably the best in town. It has a lot of gourmet and international food. There is a Wal-Mart. There is not as much crime here, but as with every part of Corpus Christi, it's just prudent to keep your house locked up tight. If you can get into a neighborhood with a crime-watch system, that seems to be the most affective thing I've seen. The neighborhoods on the South Side are designed to keep traffic and road noise to a minimum. The only people who drive down the street are the people who live on that street. It's safe to go for a walk or a run on the South Side, although there are no running paths or bike paths. You have to run on the crooked sidewalks or in the roads. There are a lot of middle aged and older people, so it's quiet. The neighbors are considerate and most people keep their houses and lawns up. I've heard people say that Corpus Christi is a lot like Mexico, run down, etc. I will tell you that the South Side is not like that. It is a nice, modern suburb with a decent amount of amenities. Relocating from a large city to this area has been so enjoyable. I love the beach and the marina is always alive. I can go sailing, snorkeling or just simply for a swim. Early morning and late evening is my favor ...Read More ite time to stroll along the beach searching for seashells and other treasures. For avid fishermen and beginners the thrill of reeling in a fish, big or small, is usually one cast away. I also like to use a throw net and catch my own bait. You will see people stopped on the side of the road and wading for bait. For people that don't care for the sun, water and sand I suggest a trip to the aquarium for a relaxing afternoon.

I look forward to dining on the bay at one of my favorite restaurants while watching the large boats arrive. Shrimpers bring their haul while visitors as well as local residents haggle with the Captain about a fair price to purchase this fresh catch. The best meal is one prepared with the freshest shrimp just hours out of the ocean.

My neighbors are very welcoming and our community offers a variety of activities for different cultures. Job opportunities are readily available in many different food, shopping and tourist industries.

Living near the heart of downtown or on the water housing expenses are slightly higher than living inside a residential area. No matter where you call home, your not going to be far from the water and all the fun activities. Traveling to South Padre is an enjoyable ride and a trip worth taking.

On the South Side of Corpus Christie you will find the museums district, homes in an historical area to tour and plenty of places to visit with friends or family for a night of dancing or wind down as you enjoy the scenery.

When you visit, don't miss the Botanical Gardens & Nature Center, This is also a great place to enjoy an awesome birding Trail site.
