Northland is not in the heart of Columbus, but only ten minutes from anywhere in the city. Conveniently located close to the interstate, hotels and restaurants are available if you have overnight guests. This family friendly neighborhood has an exceptional school system. The Columbus Metropolitan Library system is one of the finest libraries in the country and the Karl Road Library is located right in the middle of the Northland neighborhood. Families have access to a very large YMCA facility. When I lived there it was a safe community and crime was low, nothing violent. It was safe walking down the street at night without the fear of something happening.

Everything from fast food to fine dining, Mexican, Italian, Chinese, etc. is accessible from this area. My favorite pizza place was UNO's Pizzaria. Columbus is a big sports town, so sports bars like Hooter's was a big hot spot. When it comes to attractions, there weren't many in the direct area, but the commute to the OSU arena, downtown convention center, cultural venues like museums, theatre, symphony, etc. are available. Ohio State athletics is the largest sporting venue, and the professional soccer team Columbus Crew is just minutes away off Interstate 71. Except for neighborhood clubs, the nightlife is relatively sparse.

When it comes to shopping anyone living in the Northland neighborhood has access to mega stores such as Wal-Mart to posh shopping at Nordstrom's located at the Easton Towne Center. Easton is a community of stores, restaurants, office buildings, and residences constructed by the Limited, Inc. mogul Les Wexner. One disadvantage that I felt while living there was the demolition of the local Northland Mall. This was a big loss to the residents in the area, but the Easton Towne Center more than made up for this loss. The Morse Road corridor still had a variety of stores where you can shop. I now live in Georgia, but miss the old stomping grounds. If you can deal with the cold winters Columbus is the place to move. Read Less
