Columbia Heights, MN: A close and inexpensive choice. User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) Columbia Heights, MN is a northern suburb of Minneapolis. It is close to many amenities of the city without the expensive side. Unfortunately, Columbia Heights has seen a steady rise in crime over recent years and it doesn't look to be improving any time soon. The housing market ...Read More is poor, with many homeowners either leaving the city or renting their houses to lower income families, which is usually the recipe for a declining neighborhood.

The weather in Columbia Heights is comparable to the rest of Minnesota or the Midwest in general. The winters are quite snowy with often frigid temperatures, and the summers tend to be very hot and humid. It is worth noting as well that during the spring and summer months, this part of Minnesota is subject to possible tornadoes, which may be a downside for someone looking for a more permanent home.

Overall, Columbia Heights could be a good option if you're looking for inexpensive housing and don't have many needs related to multiple shopping, dining, and nightlife options. However, if you're looking to raise a family or if you want to be in a more vibrant part of the twin cities region, you're better off looking elsewhere. Read Less
