Lincoln Park, Chicago Luxury User Rating 5 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 09, 2014) I live in Lincoln Park in Chicago, IL and have done so for over twenty years. One of the larger neighborhoods, it is bordered on the north by Diversey, west by the north branch of the Chicago River, south by North Avenue, and east by Lake Michigan. If you are looking for a divers ...Read More e neighborhood full of parks, attractions, shopping, and restaurants, Lincoln Park is the perfect neighborhood. Boasting a crime rate 60% lower than other areas in Chicago, it is a safe neighborhood that also houses three private schools, each owning more than two city blocks.

As a resident of Lincoln Park, you will be near some of the best parks the city has to offer. Along the east coast, Lincoln Park, the city's free zoo, sits nestled in a habitat seemingly undisturbed since the early nineteen hundreds. Not too far away is the Lincoln Park Conservatory, The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and, one of the most beautiful sites of the city, the North Pond Nature Sanctuary. Food and shopping are plentiful and buses continually run up and down Clark Street and Lincoln Avenue. If you live a bit further west, you will be close to both a purple and brown line stop for the train. Like most neighborhoods during spring, summer, and fall, many outdoor activities are held to revel in the warmer weather before winter returns.

With this in mind, Lincoln Park is an expensive area of town that not many can afford. The cost of living is 34 points higher than that of the national average and 28% higher than other Chicago neighborhoods. Median rental rates hover around $900 while homes cost about $664,287 (146% higher than all other Chicago neighborhoods). To live here, you have to earn around $80,000 per year. Aside from cost, if you are a train commuter, expect to have to fight for a space Mondays through Fridays. With the stops in this neighborhood so close to downtown, the trains are pretty full with commuters from the northern neighborhoods, so if you don't mind waking up earlier, you'll be able to get to work on time.
