Austin, Chicago, IL Is The place to be User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Sep 06, 2012) I lived in the Austin Chicago, Illinois area for several years. I love that the city has mass transit which allows residents the ability to save on gas as the prices for gas are steadily increasing. The area is very non transporation friendly as the AMC Showplace is a little over ...Read More a mile and a half along with several other cinemas and restaurants. Several food markets are also located in the area for convenience.

Looking for a meal sure to satisfy your hearty appetite? If so, be sure to visit one of my favorite restaurants MacArthur's. MacArthur's is a local soul food restaurant guaranteed not to disappoint your taste buds.

The wonderful thing about the Austin Chicago, Illinois area is being able to go downtown and visit the several main attractions to include: Navy Pier, Skydeck and Shedd aquarium. The downtown area of Chicago also is home to the Water Tower which boasts a great combination of shopping, dining and entertainment.

It has often been said that neighbors have fences in the area because the residents like to keep to themselves. My experience has been that people in the area very friendly and are quick to offer a helping hand.

One area of continued improvement would be to better educate the students in the area where it has been noted that the area was identified as having numerous failing schools. On the other hand one of the most successful schools in the area is the KIPP Ascend Charter School which is a tuition free college prepatory middle school. Although attempts are being made to improve the education of kids in the area there is still a long way to go.
