Living with a Family in Catonsville, Maryland User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jul 22, 2015) I've lived in Catonsville Maryland for my whole life and I have enjoyed being able to raise a family here. It is a very comfortable spot to settle down. There are many things that my family can do during the weekends and my husband and I are close enough to Baltimore City where w ...Read More e both work. There are many family friendly attractions, mostly focused in historic Catonsville. We walk our dogs down main street almost every weekend and the shop owners and other walks are always so friendly. During the summer Historic Catonville always has some sort of parade or event going on. the 4th of July fireworks are truly amazing as well. There are also a large number of family owned and run restaurants that make it their goal to learn about you and ask about your day while providing the best service possible. This is a very community focused city.

The only thing that I wish were better were better is the shopping. There aren't any real big stores, unless you want to go to Security Mall which is always an unwise move. the next closest mall is Columbia mall which can take 20 to 30 minutes to get there. Also, the night life is nothing like it is an major cities. There are a few bars that are open late, and historic Ellicott City is only a few minutes away with more bars, but there aren't any real clubs. I can see how this would be hard for younger people, but for those who have a family, I feel that this is more of an advantage than a disadvantage. Since I have lived in Catonsville with my family, going out at night has never been a big issue.
