Carpinteria was home I was born and raised there for 19 years. I loved surfing from Loons point to Rincon Point . It was a very small time vibe I loved. It's population has doubled If not more. The cost of renting or owning property is about the same as Hawaii. I had to move ...Read More

Having been a Carp resident for 4 years, its still the nicest place of the many different places I've lived, and I never thought Alameda CA or Irvine would drop below the #1 spot. What I love about it is that its very walkable. Nice little eateries, a bit of local shopping, and f ...Read More
antastic weather year round. Even with the train running right by my front door, its still a lovely place to live. What I'm not nuts about is all the transients who find their way to Carp. We get bombarded in the summertime with tourists and the part time residents, you have to be very careful when you're driving around town to dodge those folks who really never learned how to ride a bike. Lots of stupid parents try to teach their kids on the busiest streets in town, and it's nerve-wracking. You have to give pedestrians right of way, which means you have to keep your eyes wide open for folks who just step out into traffic expecting everyone to stop for them, some are difficult to see at certain times of day. It's very expensive to live here. Don't even think that its not. Rents are not cheap. Folks don't even want to fix up their dumpy old dwellings anymore because they think that folks will pay top dollar to live here. Some will, but it makes it difficult to find a decent place to live. I won't even get started on the water issue...the city takes HUGE advantage of that by gouging the hell out of customers for water use and we don't even have a yard to water! Santa Barbara is close, Ventura is close, and even a ride down to Los Angeles only takes about 90 mins (on a good day!). PS: a big plus if you speak Spanish!!
