      Carpentersville: A Nice Chicago Suburb

I lived in Carpentersville for a few years and it was a decent place to live in. It's a short drive northwest of Chicago, so if you work in or close to the city it's a decent choice. The homes are affordable, but living in Carpentersville doesn't have much in the way of a nightlife or social scene in the city itself.

Getting around Carpentersville is easiest if you have your own vehicle. There are public buses you can use, but that's about it. However, there are a lot of forests in the city. One of the best areas in Carpentersville is the Fox River Shores Forest Preserve. It's right along a big river and a peaceful place to relax.

There's enough shopping available to cover pretty much everything you'll need, including a few department stores and the Spring Hill Mall downtown. If you're looking for a full or part-time job, you shouldn't have too much trouble. The winters can be a little harsh, but nothing too harsh.
