Getting around Carpentersville is easiest if you have your own vehicle. There are public buses you can use, but that's about it. However, there are a lot of forests in the city. One of the best areas in Carpentersville is the Fox River Shores Forest Preserve. It's right along a big river and a peaceful place to relax.
There's enough shopping available to cover pretty much everything you'll need, including a few department stores and the Spring Hill Mall downtown. If you're looking for a full or part-time job, you shouldn't have too much trouble. The winters can be a little harsh, but nothing too harsh.
