I lived in Carmichael, California for one third of my life and there are many advantages to staying in this convenient suburb of Sacramento. First of all Carmichael is approximately 10 miles from downtown Sacramento, which makes it a great place for travelers visiting the greater ...Read More
Sacramento area. The best part about visiting Carmichael is its proximity to numerous major attractions throughout the Northern California area. Not only is it close to downtown Sacramento but, you are also almost equidistant from San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and Reno, Nevada.
However if you just want to stay specifically in Carmichael you will find plenty to do locally. Lastertag of Charmichael is the largest laser tag facility in the Sacramento area. Raging Waters is just a few short miles away at Cal Expo in Sacramento. Also if you come here in the summer the State Fair at Cal Expo now runs from July 12th to July 29th. This annual event includes many unique, but greasy and fattening foods as well as many big name bands from the past. Both Huey Lewis and Tesla have performed at the fair in recent years.
If you are a nature lover Effie Yeaw nature center offers many trails and a small but wildlife filled nature center with rattlesnakes, turtles, newts, salamander, birds including a resident Great-Horned Owl. Although I've never personally played golf there, Ancil Hoffman golf course is right on the way to Effie Yeaw. The reviews are mixed on this course and some like the amount of par 4's but a few feel it is overpriced for what you get. While my skateboarding days have been over for several years now, La Sierra Skatepark is another local attraction featuring a 6-foot mini-ramp and a 12 foot vertical ramp. Carmichael is also just down the street from Sunrise Mall and a wealth of excellent restaurants.
